Bilingual Community Liaison Leader
My Name is Carolina Marion, and I am honored to be the Bilingual Liaison Leader for Crumpton Elementary and Olson Elementary.
There are a few things about me that I feel are important for you to know as we communicate through each school year.
I am an educational professional with 21 years of experience in various educational settings beginning with Monterey County Office of Education where I held various key positions such as an English Learner Program Manager, Transition Student Specialist, CELDT Coordinator (ELPAC), ELAC, DELAC, CABE, Juvenile Court Mediation, Migrant Education, Alternative Education Programs such as Juvenile Hall, Youth Center,Truancy Abatement Program, PTA, and The Panetta Institute for Public Policy Monterey County Reads.
I have worked for MPUSD since 2013 as a Bilingual Liaison Leader for 2 Elementary schools. I support and work very closely with The McKinney-Vento Act District personnel that ensures educational rights for all students and their families protections for homeless children and youth. I advocate for families in need from various cultural/educational backgrounds. I also work very closely with the Family Service Specialists,
PBIS Tiers 1,2, and 3, counselors, teachers and administration.
I translate verbally and in writing highly confidential educational documents in Spanish.
I also work with families that need assistance finding community resources from Shelters, transitional housing programs, Mental Health First Aid including referrals to counselors specialized in trauma.
Finally, I enjoy advocating for our nation's Bilingual and English Language Learners and families to cultivate a multicultural educated society by supporting and promoting policy, programs, pedagogy, research, and professional development that yield academic success, value native language, lead to English proficiency,
and respect cultural and linguistic diversity including 21st century multicultural technology education.
